Lean industry 4.0: a digital value stream approach to process improvement

As a concept, Industry 4.0 encompasses the total transformation of ‘traditional’ production environment with real-time networking products, processes and infrastructure via Internet. What is not clear however, functional relationship between pre-existing operational practices such as Lean Manufacturing 4.0, thus associated organisational qualities ‘Lean-ness’ ‘Smart-ness’ respectively. This work then presents formulaic approach to ubiquitous Value Stream Map process, in order incorporate Digital elements into traditional product value streams. The result creation Map, which may be utilised rationalise deploy improvement projects.
